Make a Simple Shirt


What is this workshop all about?

Come and sew a shirt with classic details and stylish simplicity.  Using McCalls 8041. You will learn to sew yokes, collars, cuffs, plackets, seam finishes and shaped hems.  Go away with techniques under your collar to create any shirt style that takes your fancy, the fabric that you choose will define the finished look (and how easy it is to get a polished garment). We will cover how to get a great finish on your seams without an overlocker so if you don’t have one - this is the shirt class for you. 

Who is this workshop for?

Beginners with some experience and beyond with  ability to work a sewing machine

What will you get from this workshop?

 Techniques required to handle and finish those fabrics. Techniques for collars, buttonbands, buttonholes and buttons. Suitable seam finishes, pockets and cuffs. Shaped hems. Techniques for finishing seams without an overlocker.

What will I need to bring?

Janet will contact you prior the class for size information.  Pattern to  be distributed prior to class for tracing and cutting. Pattern pieces will need to be traced and cut from paper prior to class to save valuable time. If you need help deciding what size to cut or what fabric to choose we can discuss that individually beforehand.
